Architecture en Champagne
Vanault-le-Châtel is located on the hillsides surrounding Vitry-le-François. After ascending the hills among the vines, the view opens over a typically Champagne landscape, rich in history and poetry. As a landmark in the site, the lodge sparkles during the daytime with its white structure, bright like the chalk of the Champagne region, and it shines throughout the night. Anchored in this unique area, it guides, it befuddles, it incites reflection, and it offers a spot to read and understand this spotlighted landscape.
Entirely composed of repurposed doors and windows, the lodge reveals its many faces. The windows frame interesting elements: they create artworks out of a landscape that changes over the course of time and according to each season. This group of windows, made of materials of different origins, creates a unique lodge, a jewel amongst the vines that opens one’s eyes to the Champagne area, its past, and its story yet to come.
The glass windows are illuminated at night, under the effect of the moon, and resonate with winegrowers’ initiatives such as night grape harvests.
