Map of the lodges

The vineyard lodge is an often modest, single-room construction, born in the 16th century, developed in the 19th century, used by winegrowers for shelter, food and rest. While some still punctuate the Champagne landscapes, they are mainly used during the grape harvest and are landmarks for walkers.

The objective of Architecture en Champagne is to reinterpret these lodges into micro-architectures, for winegrowers, cities and villages (point of interest on a circuit, organization of tastings or festive moments) and for hikers (place of rest, picnic).

The 27 lodges presented here were made in a workshop in Châlons-en-Champagne, during the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2024 editions, from materials from the champagne industry, provided by the winegrowers themselves (racks, barrels, wine vats, etc.). These lodges are the result of a fruitful collaboration between many and multiple partners: institutions, companies, associations, individuals. For each lodge a sheet is presented. It indicates the name of the owner as well as the people who made it, the intentions of the students at the time of the design phase and its geographical location.
