L'ÉCUME DES VIGNES

The forest comes in the background to draw a horizontal line responding to the sinuosity of the Marne River at the bottom of the valley. The lodge is a nod to the village’s past activities that were once related to fishing. A sinuous opening looking like the water of the river cuts a simple volume placed in the heart of the vines. The main façade consists of oak staves tied together by ropes, attached to a portico structure on the frame of the vines. The race of the sun all day long draws shadows overlooking a bar and its inside benches, protecting the visitor from the heat.

The staves (wooden parts from the barrels, hence their rounded shape) were set like a curtain, to give the impression that they were woven.
