LE FOYER

Perched on the heights of the new municipality of Val-de-Livre—part of the Champagne region’s iconic landscape trio, "Le Foyer" lodge establishes itself as a new landmark. Its design draws inspiration from the history of the region’s long-vanished tileworks. Reclaimed tiles are combined with timber elements and arranged on frames in an open-work pattern, creating a dynamic interplay of light. The structure is supported by a timber framework, reminiscent of a church steeple and featuring traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, that was hoisted into place using a pulley system, in keeping with traditional construction methods. The shelter is designed to avoid framing specific views, instead offering an unobstructed 180 degree panorama. Rising to a height of six meters, the structure is conceived as a chimney, the heart of a hearth, creating a central space for gathering. At its core, the shelter provides an area where visitors can relax and enjoy tastings.
