Architecture en Champagne
In Condé-sur-Marne, the pavilion is situated along Cycle Route 52, forming part of a network of future installations. Set back from the main infrastructure, it nestles within a natural, leafy setting, close to the Marne River and facing the canal, offering a tranquil connection to the landscape. It invites visitors to pause and contemplate. Its open floor plan and open-through structure allow for fluid movement, creating the impression of floating above the ground while opening wide to the surroundings. The project champions reuse, incorporating barrels whose staves form both the privacy screens and a roof with a light, dynamic pattern. Linseed oil unifies the design, paired with charred timber framing that heightens the contrast. The floor folds upward to create seating facing both the Marne and the canal, offering a dual perspective of the site. The pavilion welcomes cyclists, hikers, locals, and visitors alike. Named "La Traverse," the structure evokes a barge resting between land and water. A hub of activity, it connects routes and people, serving as a place for meeting, contemplation, and passage—where one traverses both the space itself and the surrounding landscape.
